The LWML District Conference took place June 3-5, 2022. Here are the highlights from the conference.
- All 17 2022-2024 Proposed Missions Grants were approved and will be funded over this period. These grants are specific to the Pacific Southwest District which include Arizona, California, and Nevada.
- Specific Arizona grants approved are:
- 1. Whatever You Did for the Least of These, Orphan Grain Train, Surprise, AZ ($10,000);
- 2. Camperships for Arizona Lutheran Outdoor Ministry (ALOMA) ($10,000);
- 3. An Educational Need, A Spiritual Opportunity, Yuma Lutheran Schools, Yuma, AZ ($10,000);
- 4. Participant Scholarships for In Crisis Church Workers, Shepherd’s Canyon Retreat, Phoenix, AZ ($7,000)
- MITES are critical to helping fund these grants. The first Sunday of every month is Mite Box Sunday. Look for the Mite box displays in the Narthex and Christian Life Center Lobby.
- Upcoming events:
- During the first 3 Sundays of September LWML will be collecting new underwear and socks for all ages of women, men, and children to help Orphan Grain Train assist those of greatest need in Native American communities. These supplies will be delivered Saturday, September 24th to the Phoenix warehouse location.
- The Fall Ocotillo and Palo Verde Zone Rally is here at Christ Church October 15th– Guest speaker will be Doreen Garlid, member of Tempe City Council and member of King of Glory Lutheran Church in Tempe. She will be speaking about her Navajo culture and medical mission trips.
There will be further advertising of these events in August. We will need volunteers to help with the rally.
